Convention Success requires goals and a plan
Attending a convention always sounds like a vacation to the uninitiated. Don't get me wrong, any good convention should involve some social time, but it takes some discipline to balance both business and fun. [caption id="attachment_5627" align="alignright" width="300" caption="Networking at Mobile Beat"][/caption] Here are my goals for the Mobile Beat conference, this week. Reconnect with attendees who I know, to establish new client relationships. Connect with people I don't know, to begin new client relationships. Sell a specified number of books and wedding marketing discs (99 Wedding Marketing Tips) at the trade show. Have, not less than four private meetings with prospects/clients. Enhance my name recognition ...
Mobile DJs descend on Las Vegas for Mobile Beat Conference
It's time for the annual migration of mobile disc jockeys to Las Vegas for the Mobile Beat conference. This year there are two added benefits. The conference is adjacent to Super Bowl Sunday. A fair amount of attendees have elected to arrive early and participate in 'big game' parties in Sin City. The weather in the North East is decidedly lousy, and assuming these folks can actually get on their plane flights, they'll be enjoying moderate weather in Las Vegas. Three Seminars: I'll be giving two seminars, included in the conference. Also, one pre-conference seminar on Monday. A special 3-hour seminar on blogging, Monday ...
The Power of WHY in Wedding Referrals
It's likely you have an opinion about what factors make your company a good choice in its category? They are probably rational, reasonable opinions based on important success factors for your product or service. All that is well and good, but you might be surprised to ask your peers, other wedding professionals, as to why they refer you. The answers are all about perspective. What you think is important, as an expert in your field, are often entirely different than what another wedding professional may value. And, as important, you will often find that their reasons for referring you are decidedly different ...
Do groundhogs run your world?
This evening, I was trying to explain the concept of Groundhog Day to our friend Marine (she is from France). The more I tried to explain this American tradition of groundhog-as-fortune teller, the more ridiculous it sounded. At least she didn't laugh at me. Then, it dawned on me that there are many varieties of groundhogs in our world. We call them pundits and economists. Newscasts are less filled with facts, than predictions. We're now into February. Just want to make sure you're working your wedding marketing plan and not listening to groundhogs (or any facsimiles). Andy Ebon The Wedding Marketing Authority
Is Innovation On Your Weekly Checklist?
I am fascinated at how a few companies, large and small, continue to prosper during these last couple of years, during a bad economy. It appears to me that the companies that succeed consistently are not just squeezing the last dollar out of cost cutting; they are innovating on continual basis. One of my favorites is Southwest Airlines. When the rest of the airline industry zigs; the zag. Many airlines have implemented draconian baggage checking fees (up to $120 round trip) and Southwest has created a hysterical campaign that counters them: Bags Fly Free. At the same time, Southwest developed an 'automatic check-in ...
2 Important Marketing Lessons From The Grammy Awards
[caption id="attachment_5542" align="alignright" width="300" caption="Salvador & Carlos Santana"][/caption] The business part of my brain sees marketing lessons at every turn. However, while watching The Grammy Awards, Sunday night, there were two examples that jumped out at me as extreme examples of brilliant and tragic. The first scenario popped up during the Red Carpet segment on the E! Channel. Ryan Seacrest was swapping screen time, with fellow E! host, Giuliana Rancic, making light conversation about fashion, music, and the award festivities. One gets the impression that while producers can always fill in a host via their earpiece, Seacrest knows virtually all the people ...
