Friday, April 25th is my parent’s wedding anniversary. Were they still with us, we would be celebrating their 59th anniversary.
The met in Athens, Greece, shortly after World War II. My dad was on a writing assignment (from New York City). My mom was an interpreter for the city of Athens.
He proposed, knowing her just three days. She accepted. He returned six months later, and they were wed. Then, they both returned to New York City, for the duration.
There are no grand photo albums for videotapes to document this event. That is unfortunate.
However, I do have my favorite photo of them to share, with you. A photo booth shot from 1949.
Three days… 49 years. Who could have guessed?
