Remember the first digital cameras, maybe a decade ago. They shot pretty good pictures, but were pretty big and clunky. Now, anyone can have an excellent camera, that’s smaller than a cigarette pack. Don’t want a separate camera? Most cell phones have a decent camera, included.
Now, when I see some random sign, artwork or situation, I just pull out my trusty iPhone and capture the image. I often post iPhone images directly to my Facebook account, and sometimes to this blog.
I would bet that you are taking your fair share of photos to document different aspects of your wedding events, as well as random personal happenings.
Now, we’re going to make you an amateur videographer, also for the purpose of documentation. This handy little video camera, The Flip, has been out for a couple of years. A few months ago, they made a product upgrade. The regular version is about $150; HD (high definition) for about $200 or less.
As you can, it has a USB connection, making it easy to connect to your computer and upload the internet.
Here’s the thing. One doesn’t just shoot video for the heck of it. You shoot video to document and demonstrate. Give that notion a little time and thought. I’ll bet you can come up with a half-dozen reasons to use video in your wedding marketing. Of course, having an excellent tool, like The Flip, that fits into your purse our coat pocket makes it extra easy.
Now don’t kid yourself. This doesn’t take the place of a professional HD videographer, with their concept, camera and editing skills. However, for documenting snippets of your wedding world, you should be able to handle it, on the fly.
Don’t just take my word for it. Watch a quick video review from StuffTV.
