A great blog isn’t easy. If it was, everyone would have one. If you develop and maintain one, you will be heads above your competition, in many things, including search engine ranking and business image.
And once you’re out in front, you’ll find it’s easier to stay out in front.

Excellent post – and the encouragement I needed (thank you!). I recently started a blog, but often find myself letting far too much time lapse between posts becasue I spend too much time worrying about every post being perfect (which they are far from).
Procrastinating is accomplishing nothing but slowing down the learning process!

Well said! Seems to me that learning to blog is like learning to swim. Get your feet wet, jump in and start treading, and (taking care you survive) with a little guidance, you’ll find a way to swim. Rudimentary, of course, and everything else being equal, the more you practice, the faster you improve. Gradually you’ll develop your own personal style, but, especially in the beginning, the key is practicing. So the sooner you start, the better, and especially when you begin blogging, posting regularly trumps writing perfectly. To paraphrase a joke we always hear around election time, “Post early and post often”.
