Way back in the summer of 1972, during my first stint as a DJ in New York City nightclubs, I marveled at the skill of a charcoal sketch artists who worked with me Friday and Saturday nights. With just his eye, a sketch pad and a single implement, he made absolute magic.

Sam Day can do that (with ink and brush), and much more. Sam is a Seattle-based artist, and his standout service is Live Oil Painting at a Wedding Reception (or any event).

Using his exceptional talent, Sam provides a premium service, completing an alle prima painting during a wedding or event. The fee for service includes a little touch-up back at the studio, to accentuate the bride and groom or other guest of honor.

The Harris-Beckett Wedding: interpreted by Sam Day

When someone asks you for something ‘new, cool or different’ for their reception, send them to Sam. There’s photography, videography, and then there’s Sam Day. He is based in Seattle, but I’m sure you can fly him wherever the big event will taking place.

Value: Priceless

And he will travel anywhere to do these oil paintings.

    Mark,

You should be in touch, directly. It’s always a question of geography-availability-fee, but I’m certain he would go anywhere for the appropriate fee + travel expense.

    Andy,

I did check with Sam, and he does travel. And you were right about scheduling him for availability too.

  4. Still one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced at a wedding. Andy, thank you again for the referral. I loved working with Sam Day. He traveled to Las Vegas in June 2009 for a wedding ceremony. It was a longer ceremony but still a challenge to paint within that short time frame. The bride then decided to have him stay for the reception to paint that too! Both paintings were gorgeous!
